Sober living homes in Massachusetts are certified by MASH, the Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Housing. The Massachusetts Alliance for Sober Living is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to support recovery guests throughout Massachusetts and to practice national quality standards for recovery residences. Curran’s Calling is a nonprofit scholarship foundation dedicated to helping individuals seeking recovery access structured sober living by providing financial assistance. Their scholarships bridge the gap between inpatient treatment and independent living, relieving some of the financial burden placed on Sober living home individuals and their families.

Step 3: Prepare for Your Sober House for Inspection

• The Hillside offers free internet, television, laundry services, and a quiet environment that feels just like home.
• While the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) in Massachusetts is responsible for certifying all addiction treatment programs in the state, it does not certify sober living homes.

Our organization also provides supervision and training for sober homes, and maintains a database of more than 180 MASH-certified sober homes.MASH’s recovery values emphasize health, home, purpose, and community. • While these homes are protected under the federal Fair Housing Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, local zoning laws can present challenges.

The VSL and Vanderburgh House ™ brands are used with permission by VSL Chartered Operators. Main components of Project NORTH include voluntary court-based Recovery Support Navigation, short-term transportation assistance to relevant services, and short-term assistance with rent in a certified and participating sober house. Barracks 22 offers a safe, sober environment for adult men recovering from alcohol and substance misuse.

Funding is specifically allocated for residents living in MASH-certified sober homes, ensuring that participants receive housing that meets high standards of safety and support. Project NORTH (Navigating Opioid Recovery Through Housing) provides financial support to individuals recovering from opioid use disorder (OUD) who need help covering the cost of sober living in MASH-certified sober houses. The Access to Recovery (ATR) program provides financial assistance to individuals in early recovery who need help covering the cost of sober living in MASH-certified sober houses. Administered by the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS), ATR funding helps individuals transition from treatment to stable housing, supporting their journey to long-term recovery and self-sufficiency.
